Marc Pilcher
1967 - 2021
Marc Elliot Pilcher was born in Rochester Kent on December 5th, 1967

Shortly after graduating from The London College of Fashion in 1988 Marc was soon working in theatre in the West End and on National Tours working his way up the ranks to become wig Master on shows including Phantom of the Opera, Anything Goes, Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love, Copacabana, South Pacific, Sweeney Todd, My Fair Lady, Evita and My Fair Lady.

In the early 2000’s Marc made the transition to working in TV and Film and with his talent and skills in styling period hair Marc was constantly employed and involved in productions such as, Foyles War, Sharpe, Miss Marple, Poirot, Cranford Chronicles , Sherlock Holmes ,The Duchess, W.E ,Young Victoria ,My Week with Marilyn, Great Expectations, Macbeth, Beauty & The Beast , Downton Abbey, Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and Mary Queen of Scots to name a few and not forgetting Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice when during ‘movie week’ Marc came into his own.
In 2017 Marc made the transition to being a designer in his own right, with the 1950s set drama The Collection for Amazon TV. Bridgerton S1 saw Marcs biggest break in the role of Designer, and his work went on to win the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Period Hair Styling for Bridgerton S1.
Other notable awards saw Marc receiving the winner of The Makeup and Hairstylist Screen Guilds awards for Best Period and /or Character Makeup in 2018 for Mary Queen of Scotts , 2019 for Downton Abbey and 2020 for Bridgerton S1 plus in 2018 an Oscar nomination for Mary Queen of Scotts along side Jenny Shircore.

Sadly Marc’s Emmy success was short-lived and upon returning from the LA ceremony despite being double vaccinated and no underlying health issues, Marc fell ill and was diagnosed with Covid 19 and died 21 days later on October 3rd 2021. He was 53.
Marc was mid production designing The Confessions of Frannie Langton, and his devoted team had the hard and emotive job of completing his vision without him. Marc is sadly missed by all his friends, family and industry colleagues.
Marc always the team player knew the value of nurturing a great and loyal team and encouraging new talent through the ranks by sharing his knowledge and passion.

A bursary created to celebrate London College of Fashion alumnus Marc is to provide training for future talent, and to help disadvantaged students pursue a degree in BA (Hons) Hair, Make-Up, and Prosthetics for Performance, the same course Marc studied at LCF thirty years ago. All donations will be greatly received.
